I’ve written about monuments before. Mostly monuments honoring the Confederacy and mostly my mind set was either, “Tear ‘em down”, because they convey a false history, or, “Augment them with a monument to the truth!”
But last week during a visit to my home-town of Amherst NH, my old friend, Alan Sheather, showed me a monument that I can finally admire. A darn good monument right smack dab in the middle of town in a location where it can be seen and admired. A monument that should stand and be honored forever. A monument to the brave – I might say incredibly brave and handsome men who have fought for this country.
And then Alan showed me the best, most important part: My name! All these years and I had no idea. I never knew that my name was on a monument! Pretty funny actually.
Ok…on to more serious stuff.
And a humble thanks to those who have helped to sponsor our upcoming important film project. If you are in a position where you can help, it would be much appreciated.
Acknowledgment well deserved and written in stone.
