The Civil Conversations Project invites you to our new live webinar series — a space for honest dialogue about race in America. Informational, not confrontational, these sessions will not be referring to White “privilege”, politics, or any other buzz words that have crept into the conversation. We’ve been talking about this new webinar series for a while and are finally launching on September 3rd, 12:30pm Mountain time.
The webinar will feature real-time conversations with Wayne Hare, co-founder of The Civil Conversations Project, Gretchen Reist, host and founder of the Crossing The Divide Podcast, and you, the participating audience.... free and open to all. For this inaugural seminar, Wayne and Gretchen will focus on the national narrative – the story that America tells itself and the world who we are.
America has a specific narrative that we were exposed to in school. American history was taught as a series of triumphs that remain front and center. We portray that we are an honorable country always marching towards good. It’s a positive narrative, and while it is not exactly untrue, it’s also not exactly true and it paints a picture that stays with us our entire life.
Many of us are still struggling to even talk about race. Struggling to find common ground. Struggling to find common conversation. Bring an open mind, curiosity, and questions – especially those questions that you may have been reluctant to ask and we will dive in together.
