When I saw videos of Trump’s Big Beautiful Parade I was struck by the poor marching. Much of it seemed like just a bunch of people wearing camo casually walking down the street. Silently protesting? Bored? Poorly trained? No idea.
I reflected back on my marching experience, especially in boot camp on Paris Island South Carolina. We could execute complicated maneuvers without breaking ranks. And by coming down hard on the pavement with every step, we made NOISE. Serious noise. No sneaking up on the enemy!
I KNOW I shouldn’t do this. I’m being small. Petty. I’ll hear from my board. I’ll be compared to Terry Moran, fired, and, like Terry, be reduced to publishing on Substack! I’ll be called juvenile, and not for the first time.
I was going to include this in my post yesterday, but I managed to muster up some maturity and talk myself out of it. But it was late on-set, short-term maturity and that was yuesterday… so screw it!
And the Marines in the first USMC film? WOMEN!

And of course, the marching Marne Corps Hymn
You can see the difference, right?
I wondered… I’ve seen enough marching drills to suspect that the “parade” was a silent protest.
Cquld definitely see the difference, thanks for the compare and contrast! I'd say the soldiers in Trumps sad parade were diffident at best, not how and where they wanted to spend their time. There's a nice video floating around of Trump falling asleep like Grandpa after Thanksgiving dinner. Melinia at his side, doing her best not to roll her eyes.
