Hi friends, From time to time, I'll be recommending other writers who publish through Substack. In my mind, race is the number one issue facing Americans. But right behind that is our shared environment and climate change. I read Jonathan Thompson's The Land Desk almost everyday. It's fun, inspirational , and informative. Full disclosure, he writes almost entirely about the four corners area where Utah, Colorado, Arizona, and New Mexico intersect - or more broadly, the Colorado Plateau.
Heather Cox Richardson is one of those history professors who makes you wonder why history was often so boring back in school. But more than that, Heather has a keen understanding of how much and how tightly Black history is intertwined with plain old American history and the role that leaving it out has played in the racial flummox we still find ourselves in. She understands that Black history and American history are the same thing. She even makes history and current events enjoyable.
