What a great article…thanks. You know, back in 1970 a few students and I put together a seminar day about diversity. I am no Mary..and had little to lose…but the day before all these speakers were scheduled to come talk at the school the principal called me in and said some parents had complained and they were thinking of canceling. I was furious and back then, way more outspoken. I told him if he wanted to cancel…he could call every one of them…one form the NAACP and another from the Black Panthers and cancel. He didn’t..the day went without a hitch. Mary is quite a hero…she risked her job!
