Wayne, you are such a great communicator and I'm always impressed with the things you notice, the people you highlight, the research you do and the facts you come up with that I would never have learned about if not for your writing. This was a wonderful piece that provided insight into the unique world of wildfire fighting that most of us will never experience. As always, great storytelling, Wayne. ❤️ I’ll share with T. My love was bemoaning his zero hours of sleep, then 2 hours, then maybe 4 on the first few days of his last Type3 IC assignment. And he didn’t have a sleeping bag because he got separated from the smokejumpers when he took on the IC role - anyway… Then he talked about breaking in his last pair of fire boots playing four square on a tarmac. The duality of all things. And his new mantra - broke in my boots playing four square. ❤️
