If you are interested in following along with Canada's resistance to Trump I highly recommend following Charlie Angus. He's up punk musician who became an NDP politician for 21 years and just retired this year. This is his current project:
Your assertion that you're not generally the most patriotic person but seem to be rising to the occasion as your country is threatened is exactly the same as a vast swath of Canadians. We don't go for rah rah flag waving so much but Donald Trump threatening our country has raised our patriotic ire. So now you know what a lot of Canadians feel like!
Secondly, the change in your Republican party over the last decade has been mirrored here in Canada. For my entire life there have been three main national parties here in Canada. Liberal, NDP and, until about 20 years ago, Progressive Conservatives. Our Progressive conservatives were analogous to your Republican Party. They are now simply the Conservative party. They got hijacked by their right wing about 20 years ago and have since become progressively more right wing. Nowhere near Maga but a long way away from their Progressive roots.
Also, something I think a lot of both Americans and Canadians aren't widely aware of is that Canada has plenty of its own racism and white supremacy. On the organized white supremacy front we may even be worse than America.

That's quite a piece of writing. Thanks.

Interesting. Thanks
Two Canada/America parallels I see here.
